Anthropic has reportedly decided against the acquisition of artificial intelligence startup Decart AI, with talks over a potential $6 billion deal falling apart.

The Claude developer was actively exploring the deal and had carried out due diligence, but ultimately decided to walk away, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The companies could still pursue alternative collaboration opportunities, one of the people said, with both Anthropic and Decart declining to comment on the matter.

Decart builds software designed to reduce the cost of training and operating AI systems by helping chips work more efficiently. The potential acquisition was intended to help Anthropic's existing computing infrastructure absorb more demand, according to Bloomberg, ahead of its expected IPO.

World models

Backed by eBay, Decart also develops world models that are designed to simulate the physical world, with potential applications including autonomous driving and e-commerce personal clothing visualizations. Alongside eBay, Decart's technology is also used by platforms including Twitch, TikTok, and YouTube.

In May, Decart said it raised a $300 million funding round led by Radical Ventures, with participation from Nvidia, Atreides Management, Valor Equity Partners, and Adobe Ventures. The round valued the firm at nearly $4 billion, according to The Wall Street Journal.
