Commercial content policy

The Latent sells direct sponsorships and a paid press-release distribution product. Commercial modules and releases are labeled, use first-party creatives or staff-ingested copy, and never run auctions or third-party ad scripts.

Sponsorships

Homepage and section sponsorships are labeled as sponsored. Outbound commercial links userel="sponsored nofollow noopener noreferrer".

Paid press releases

Companies may pay for English distribution of a press release on thelatent.co. Clients submit materials out of band (email or Google Doc). Clients never receive Sanity or Studio access. A staff member creates the draft; a different authorized reviewer must sign a commercial-review checklist before publish or schedule. The public byline is the paying company, not The Latent staff.

Every release shows a prominent disclosure: “Sponsored press release, provided by {company}. The Latent did not write this content.” Structured data uses schema.orgArticle with the paying Organization as author and The Latent as publisher, never NewsArticle.

Press pages remain indexable in ordinary search and appear in the XML sitemap. They are excluded from Google News / news sitemaps, general RSS and Atom feeds, the homepage lead package, Live News, Learn “In the news,” and other editorial surfaces. Outbound links in press bodies use rel="sponsored nofollow noopener noreferrer".

Press launches English-only. Volume should remain a small minority of site output; if commercial volume begins to resemble scaled distribution, indexing policy will be reassessed without weakening the human review gate.
