NVIDIA Purchase and Supply Commitments
A continuous indicative series of NVIDIA quarter-end purchase, manufacturing, supply and capacity commitments in USD billions. Reported balances are joined across a 2025 disclosure-definition change using one explicitly estimated bridge quarter.
NVIDIA Purchase and Supply Commitments
At 2026-07-26, NVIDIA's reported or estimated purchase and supply commitments were $279 billion dollars.
Methodology
Transcribe quarter-end commitment balances stated in NVIDIA Forms 10-Q or 10-K filed with the SEC. All points except July 27, 2025 retain the precision NVIDIA published and are company-reported balances.
Use NVIDIA's stated fiscal quarter-end date. Its fiscal year ends on the last Sunday in January, so fiscal labels differ from calendar-quarter labels.
The series uses NVIDIA's recurring inventory-purchase plus long-term supply/capacity measure through April 27, 2025. Beginning October 26, 2025, it uses NVIDIA's manufacturing, supply and capacity commitment measure. These definitions overlap conceptually but are not accounting-identical, so the joined series is an editorial estimate of a continuous supply-commitment trend rather than a consistently defined GAAP series.
NVIDIA did not disclose either selected measure for July 27, 2025. The chart estimates that quarter at $40.05 billion, the arithmetic midpoint between the adjacent $29.8 billion April balance and $50.3 billion October balance. This is equivalent to straight-line interpolation over the two equal fiscal-quarter intervals. The filing's broader $45.774 billion all-commitments total is not plotted; it is used only as an upper-bound reasonableness check because it also includes software licenses, investments, long-lived assets, cloud services and other commitments.
The estimated July 2025 point is marked partial in chart metadata and identified as estimated in its source note. No other quarter is interpolated. Connecting the reported balances across the scope change reflects the user's requested best-estimate trend and must not be read as proof that the underlying definitions are fully comparable.
From October 26, 2025 onward, use reported manufacturing production, long-term supply/capacity and related commitments. NVIDIA subsequently called this manufacturing, supply and capacity commitments or supply commitments and explicitly compared July 2026's $279 billion with April 2026's $119 billion. Separately disclosed cloud, investment and other commitments remain excluded.
Do not confuse either plotted measure with the accrued excess inventory purchase obligations liability. That balance records obligations judged to exceed current demand projections plus certain supplier, cancellation or underutilization charges; it is an accounting accrual, not the forward supply-commitment measure plotted here.
Frequently asked questions
What exactly does the commitment line measure?
It is an indicative continuous trend combining NVIDIA's earlier inventory-purchase plus long-term supply/capacity obligations with its later manufacturing, supply and capacity commitments. Both are quarter-end future-obligation balances, but the definition changed in 2025, so the joined line is not a consistently defined GAAP series.
Why do supply commitments matter for AI hardware?
Large commitments can indicate that NVIDIA is reserving manufacturing inputs and capacity for future platform demand, while also exposing it to forecasting, cancellation, underutilization and product-transition risk. The filings do not identify an AI-only portion.
Can every quarter be compared directly?
Not precisely across the 2025 transition. NVIDIA changed the disclosed scope after Q1 FY2026. The chart connects the definitions to show an estimated direction and order of magnitude, but growth rates spanning that transition should be treated as approximate.
How is Q2 FY2026 estimated?
The July 27, 2025 point is $40.05 billion, the arithmetic midpoint between the adjacent reported balances of $29.8 billion and $50.3 billion. NVIDIA's $45.774 billion broader all-commitments total for that quarter is used only as an upper-bound check because it includes categories outside this chart.
Are prepaid supply and capacity agreements included?
No. NVIDIA reports prepayments as assets, while this chart tracks disclosed future commitment balances. Combining already-paid assets with future obligations would double-count different accounting concepts.
Is this the same as excess inventory purchase obligations?
No. Excess inventory purchase obligations are accrued charges for commitments beyond current demand projections and related supplier or cancellation costs. They are excluded from this forward commitment chart.
Does a larger commitment balance guarantee future NVIDIA revenue?
No. The balance is a supply-side leading indicator, not revenue guidance. Some supplier arrangements may be cancellable, reschedulable or adjustable before firm orders, and changes can still create costs.
How are commitment balances sourced and selected?
Reported points are transcribed from NVIDIA's Forms 10-Q or 10-K at the stated fiscal quarter end. July 2025 is the only estimated point; it is a straight-line bridge between adjacent reported balances because that filing disclosed only a broader, noncomparable total.
