Meta launches new enterprise AI business built around Muse

Meta has launched Meta Enterprise Platform, designed to help businesses leverage its AI stack, including its new Muse agent.

Meta introduced the personal AI agent earlier this month, which continues to work on tasks after users close the app and notifies them when something changes or if it needs their approval. After topping Apple's App Store just a week after launch, Muse is now a big part of Meta's new enterprise plans, too.

"We believe superintelligence will create significant new opportunities for all people and businesses," CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a statement on Monday. "Initially, we will focus on bringing our full technology stack, including the Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API, Muse Code, and more, to businesses and developers to help them grow."

Chirantan "CJ" Desai has joined Meta as Chief Enterprise Platform Officer to lead the effort, reporting directly to Zuckerberg.

"CJ is an experienced enterprise leader with a track record of building full-stack software and delivering results in AI, infrastructure, business applications, and security," the Meta CEO said.

Desai joins from AI-focused data platform MongoDB, where he served as President and CEO. Following the news, Nasdaq-listed MongoDB (MDB) fell around 20% in early trading on Monday.

"I want to thank the incredibly talented people I had the privilege of working with at MongoDB," Desai said on LinkedIn. "Getting to build the leading modern data platform for the multi-cloud AI era alongside such an exceptional group of people was truly special. It was an absolute honor serving a growing community of MongoDB customers."

Desai previously led product and engineering at Cloudflare, and spent more than seven years at ServiceNow, including as President and COO. He has also been a guest lecturer at Stanford University since 2022.

"Over the coming years, AI will fundamentally redefine how organizations of all sizes innovate, grow, serve customers, and run business operations," Desai said in Meta's statement. "Meta has a unique role to play because it is bringing together advanced models and leading agents with a proven track record of helping millions of advertisers and hundreds of millions of businesses scale."

Meta Enterprise Platform will focus on developing its existing AI stack into products and services that companies can deploy for their own businesses, Desai added, with security and privacy at the forefront.

Amid the recent debate on pacing AI development, Zuckerberg previously said the company had delayed Muse for several months to focus on safety and security. The Meta boss said that every AI lab has the responsibility to train its models at a safe pace and is capable of taking its own actions to ensure that happens.
